What Does Your Irish Wedding Band Say: Claddagh

Julie | November 22, 2008

Irish Claddagh Wedding BandThe Claddagh is recognized the world over as an Irish symbol for Love, Loyalty, and Friendship.  The motto of the Claddagh is “Let Love and Friendship Reign”.  Each part of the Claddagh has a different meaning.  The Heart stands for Love, the Crown stands for Loyalty, and the Hands represent Friendship.  Together in one beautiful ring, and you have the three most important attributes of any relationship or marriage.

While there are a couple of different schools of thought on the origination of the Claddagh ring, the most likely attributes the design to Richard Joyce who lived in the village of Claddagh, which would now be Galway City, Ireland.

Claddagh Rings and Wedding Bands are available in a variety of different styles as well as metal types.  You can generally choose from sterling silver, yellow gold, white gold, and even platinum.  There is also another deviation of the Claddagh ring - one that does not have a crown.  Some Irish Nationalists believed that the Crown was too strong a representation of England, and the Claddagh ring and symbol began to appear without the Crown.  However, this version of the Claddagh ring never proved as popular as the original.

Don’t forget that you’ll want to wear your Claddagh Wedding Band correctly. See our article on How to Wear the Claddagh Ring for more information.

Silver Irish Wedding Tiara With Celtic Trinity Knot

Julie | October 8, 2008

Silver Irish Trinity Knot Wedding Tiara

One of our most popular Irish wedding tiaras remains the classic silver Trinity knot style.  Simple, yet stunningly elegant, it is the perfect Irish wedding accessory for your wedding day.

Adorned with Celtic knotwork, the tiara focuses on the centered Trinity knot, which is filled with Austrian crystals.  There are also additional crystal and pearl accents cummulating in a wonderful piece of Irish bridal jewelry.

The entire tiara is plated in rhodium for a spectacular shine.  Unlike silver, rhodium does not tarnish and rhodium is also more brilliant than silver.

The Trinity knot in the center stands 1″ high and the tiara is designed to accent virtually any hairstyle.  Comes packaged in a cushioned presentation box that is perfect to protect your beautiful Irish tiara during long term storage.

Men’s Silver Gra Dilseacht Cairdeas Wedding Band

Julie | October 6, 2008

Gra Dilseacht Cairdeas Wedding RingThis beautiful Men’s Sterling Silver Gra Dilseacht Cairdeas Wedding Band has always caught my eye! The design and rustic tones of this band join to create a wonderful piece of Irish jewelry.

In Irish, Gra Dilseacht Cairdeas means Love, Loyalty, and Friendship. This is the same meaning as the Claddagh symbol, which is used to separate each word on the ring.

According to Wikipedia:

The Claddagh’s distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown).

The entire series of Gra Dilseach Cairdeas rings are also available in yellow gold, white gold, and platinum.

Full of Claddagh symbology and meaning, this ring would make a perfect Wedding Ring, or gift for a loved one.
